ANDY (Angel Rivero Sierra)

Angel Eusebio Rivero Sierra, stage name Andy, was born in Havana in 1965. In 1987 he graduated from the Institute of Industrial Design in Havana. Since then he has worked in his own studio in Havana Vieja. He cultivates a strongly expressionistic painting style. His abstract paintings flood the viewer with expressive colours, textures and various formal and figurative elements. He says of himself that abstract art is a huge source of inspiration for him. Often he works for months on individual pictures until he comes to the conclusion that the picture is right in itself. His works can now be found all over the world. His artist name Andy is derived from Andy Warhol - his great role model.
